To make a selection, click the mouse on the radio button, the round button in the first column of the choices list, whose description matches the item/image; then click the "Enter" button below. If you got it "right," a check mark will be placed in the box next to your choice. This is your proof that you are correct! Some versions may remove the check mark after you have made another choice. (This may increase the level of difficulty as you are finishing the game.)
Continue on by clicking the "Next" button. This will reveal the next image. On some versions, there may be multiple images shown at random which belong to the same topical area, but are different views. For example, suppose the game is about cars. You might see differing pictures or graphic renditions of a certain make of car. It's still the same car, but a different view, angle, or representation of the object. (This is supposed to make the game a bit more challenging so that you will focus on the content and not the picture itself!)
Oops, I got one wrong... If you make a wrong choice, the game will indicate what the right answer is by placing a dot in its corresponding radio button, and the check box will not be checked!. It will also display a small alert panel which tells you that you made a wrong choice and that the right one is shown on the choices display. At this point, make a mental note of the correct answer and continue on by clicking the "Next" button. On this subsequent click, the dot in the "corrected answer" radio button will be erased...
As the game progresses, a tally will be kept of your choices. If you missed one, it will be tallied in the "Missed" box. The "Count" box will keep score of all events. It is the number of selections that have been made, right or wrong. When you have completed the game, and your image items have all been displayed and identified, the "Count" box will say "Done!" If you wish to play again, be sure to click on the "Clear" button and the game will be refreshed for a new session. Click on "Next" to display the new game's starting image... (You will also probably see a different sequence of images.)
Once the game is "Done!" the only button that will have any response is the "Clear" button. However, if you missed some items, the game may go into "Learn" mode if the game designer has so configured it. You may remain in learn mode for as long as you like. To begin another game, click on the "Clear" button, which clears the projection screen, and then "Next," which displays a new image...
Before actually selecting any answers in play mode, you may browse the images in the list by clicking on the "Next" button sequentially. You might try this just before actually beginning the game. If there are multiple images per topic, you may see these as you browse through. You would then be better prepared for viewing any image that was randomly selected. Recall that in learn mode, there may be only one image that has been chosen as the best example, and this will prevent any of the other images in that group from being displayed. While this is a good way to learn the material initially, browsing in play mode will eventually expose all the images in the topical groups...
A Few Optional Features...
This game/quiz is meant to be developed, designed, and essentially "programmed" by the website coordinator. So, you may see widely differing versions of this matching game, even on the same site! There are several features which may be included in the game mode control panel:
- Links to Detail Pages
The verbal answers, which match the pictures, may or may not be links! If linked, they will probably take you to another page where more in-depth information is presented. It is the game designer's choice to include this linking option and to find suitable sources of information that prove helpful in learning about the subject matter. Some of these links might even point to other games which deal with sub-topical information, a game within a game!

All Names above link to Website Pages
When you leave the game page in "Play" mode, linking to another site, you may see a slightly different sequence of images when you return. So if you have already begun to play the game, some of those previous images may show up again. You have to realize that you may have already identified some of them... However, if you are in "Learn" mode and leave the page, you will return to exactly where you left off and your sequence of items or images will not change. (Note: If your game has multiple images within a subject group, you will return to the same subject group, not always the same picture or image.)
The sequentially incrementing numbers appearing in the Items box, if available, correlate to the random order of the images in "Play" mode. The images are scrambled for each session of a game. So image number one in one game may not be the same as in another. Each time you play a new game, this item/image order will be different. (However, if you are in "Learn" mode, you will see a consistent ordering based on how the material is listed in the choices list; item/image number one corresponds to number one on the list...)- Additional Linking Buttons
It is possible that more buttons may be configured in the list for the choices options. These buttons may be programmed as the game designer sees fit. Some options include: remaining on the same page but opening another document in a large window, opening a series of smaller, thumbnail windows for visual comparison, and even playing a sound track or animated sequence which could help the viewer to learn more about the subject matter.

- A Learning Mode Button
You might see games that have included a "Learn" mode option on the control panel. "Learn" mode shows you the answers as you step through the sequence of images! Clicking the "Next" button repreatedly advances you through the sequence in turn. You may also jump to any item/image by clicking on its radio button and then clicking the "Next" button.

Game with Learn Mode Configured and Activated
Beginning the game in "Learn" mode, is a good way to familiarize yourself with the material! Follow any instructional links, and step through the items/images until you are confident about the subject matter. Then click on "Play" and begin your game...
On some versions of the game, after you have finished playing and if you selected wrong answers; all the check marks will be cleared, the incorrectly answered items will be checked, and the game mode will be placed automatically into "Learn" mode. Click a radio button next to its check-marked item to review the missed material, or just click the "Next" button...

Sample Missed-Items Listing
Clicking the "Next" button will step through the missed-items list, the ones that have been checked, until you have reached the last one. Then a "Next" click will return to the normal sequential itemization. In the example above, there were two items missed, numbers one and six. The list begins by displaying the correct answer for number one. Another click would take you to item number six to complete the list...
Also, if so configured, some games may present a special learning image which has been considered to be the "best" teaching example. (This item/image may or may not show up when the game is in "Play" mode. It's the designer's option...)
As usual, if you wish to play another game, be sure to click on the "Clear" button to erase the screen, clear all tallies, and begin again.- A Demo/Auto Mode Button
On some versions of the game, you might even see a "Demo" or "Auto" button. Clicking on this button will cause the game to display as a slide show! It will present each image and identify it just as though it were in "Learn" mode, except that it is automated and continuously repeats its sequence...
This "game" also functions as a presentation showcase when used to its fullest capability. You may coordinate multi-media materials ranging from still images to video sequences including sound, just as you would on any web page. Your personalized, uniquely configured, program sheet manages each game or display that you design with many options to control the "look and feel" of the game, teaching, or entertainment sequence! A very versatile showcase! You could even structure key navigational aspects of your site using an interlinking design of game panels.
