Vistors return to your web pages because they either find something useful there or enjoy the experience of your site. It's possible to do both, even at the same time! An identification game or a "match" quiz can provide lots of entertainment, and also doubles as a great learning tool for viewers of all ages!
Why not consider installing a matching game, where the players match the words to the pictures, as an engaging, interactive component for your web pages. Read on to discover how...
Since it's your game, you are the game master and its designer! You decide what content goes into your game. You may create as many games as you can think of. (There is no limit to the number of games you may produce!)
What makes this game different is that you "program" your own game! You may use photography, video clips, graphic design images, even GIF animations! You purchase the "engine" that produces your games! So you may design as many as you wish! (With most games on the net, you only get that one game you purchased; you cannot easily modify it; and you probably cannot produce any more like it.)
(Please Note: This is not a video game! It is not exclusively animation or graphic design, although it can use those elements. It is composed of images, pictures or illustrations, which you supply (and own), or which may be "borrowed" from anywhere on the net! The game is knowledge-based, not eye-hand coordination-based.)
If you would like to learn more about how to play the various versions of the game, please see How to Play the Game. This reveals helpful hints and background information for players. If you run or maintain a website, and wish to learn about how to design a game, please see How to Design a Game. This may help you to decide if this match game is right for you and your site visitors. If you are not sure that you can "invent" a game, please see How to Create a Game. This may inspire your imagination and convice you that you can produce an engaging and educational game that your website visitors will keep coming back to play!
- How To Set up a Game...
To create a game you need to choose your images and list them in a special data configuration page. These images may be yours, or they may be "hot-linked," with permission of course, from other sites. (You must get permission to use any images that are not your own. But, most photographers are happy to let you "borrow" their work provided you give them a link and a credit!)
You may continue to fill out your unique configuration page by including the sizes of the images, any accompanying text that you might wish to include, links, hints or steps, etc. There are even options to set up buttons. These can be programmed to show special views or additional information about the images in question, or to display multiple windows to compare and contrast differing views of several images.- The Learning/Instructional/Tutorial Component
Despite the fact that this game is fun to play, there is a "serious" side as well. If you choose, you may include a learning mode button which will show the answers as you step through the picture sequence. If you have set up links, the learner may then jump to the associated page to discover more about that aspect of the topic!
You can also use this "game" as a teaching or tutorial vehicle. Each image or picture could be a step in a process. When the viewers are confident, they may return to "Play" mode to take the quiz and see their score, find out where they need extra help, and then return to the "Learn" mode to review that material.
If you are conducting a seminar or talk, you may use the "Learn" mode to step through the "slides" or video clips from the podium one-by-one. (In "Learn" mode, you command the display panel.)
If you are promoting your product at a Trade Show or Business Conference, you may choose the "Demo" or "Auto" mode to create a continuous slide show. (Using your configuration sheet, you may set the number of seconds between slides...) You could also run this "show" just before you give your talk, to help the audience gain an overview of the subject matter about to be covered.
This "game" also functions as a presentation showcase when used to its fullest capability. You may coordinate multi-media materials ranging from still images to video sequences including sound, just as you would on any web page. Your personalized, uniquely configured, program sheet manages each game or display that you design with many options to control the "look and feel" of the game, teaching, or entertainment sequence! A very versatile showcase! You could even structure key navigational aspects of your site using an interlinking design of game panels.
